Bristol Meyers Squibb is an international pharmaceutical business which develops a wide range of medications. Many of their medications for heartburn and other common health problems can be found on many households across the country. The company also develops and distributes several other medications here and around the globe which assists people in their fight with more serious aliments such as cancer, heart disease, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Each year the company awards a scholarship to students whose lives have been affected by some of the diseases their medications help treat.
Who the Scholarship Helps
Each year Bristol Myers Squibb gives scholarships to students who have had to delay going to school or have had their college schooling interrupted by the diagnosis or cancer or HIV/AIDS. This scholarships is the Bristol Myers Squibb Oncology Immunology Scholarship.
Qualifying for the Scholarship
In addition to having their college education delayed or interrupted by caner or HIV/AIDS any student who is applying to receive this scholarship must also have and maintain a GPA of 3.0. Scholarship applicants must also agree to complete at least 20 hours of community volunteer work during the year. Applicants must also submit proof of the volunteer work upon completion of at least 20 hours of the work.
