The field of science and technology is always in need of the best and the brightest students on these areas of study. This is why many organizations make it a priority to offer scholarships which help these individuals pay for their college educations. Intel is such a company. They offer scholarships to students through their long running annual Intel Science Talent Search.
About the Talent Competition
The Intel Science Talent Search, also known as the Intel STS, is the most well respected science competition for high school students. The competition has been held since 1942 when Westinghouse held the competition and continued when Intel took it over in 1998. The main focus of the competition is to allow high school seniors to present their own research to professional scientist for review.
Additional Information about the Competition
The research submitted by the high school seniors competition in this competition is reviewed by a national jury of jury of top professional scientists. Manu of the recipients of these scholarships have gone on to make significant contributions to the worlds of math and science. To date seven of the winners have received a Noble Prize.
Each year more than 1,600 high school students from across the nation enter into this science competition. These students submit research fir the competition on the areas of science, mathematics, and engineering. 300 of the students who enter into the completion are recognized each year through the competition. The semifinalist and finalist of those 300 compete for over one million dollars on scholarship money.
