There is a lot of need in the world for great musicians. There are a lot of students in high school who dream about getting started in a musical career. This is why there are different organizations which are helping deserving students to get the money that they need to be able to go to college full time. Best of all, for students in the Washington D.C. area, there is an opportunity to get money no matter what your financial background is.
Getting the Scholarship
In order to get the scholarship you will need to demonstrate that you not only have an interest in becoming a musician. You will need to demonstrate that you already have talent on which you can start to build. You will prove this by entering into the classical and jazz style music competitions which are held in alternating years. The competitions are open to anyone who is graduating high school in the DC area.
Deadline and Award
In order to be considered for the Attrus C. Fleming Music Scholarship you will need to have your application in before February 28th, 2011. If you are chosen to receive the scholarship you will be able to receive $1,000 in a one-time scholarship award. This is money you can apply to education, tuition or living expenses.
